A hackathon is a marathon event of brainstorming, collaborating, creating, and learning. At HackYU
you will get the chance to build an amazing project, attend interesting workshops, and hear from
accomplished speakers.
The hackathon will be held at the Wilf Campus on
Saturday night May 1st at 9:30pm - Sunday May 2nd at 4:00pm.
Ideally teams will be 3-5 people per team.
When registering, indicate that you would like to be put on a team and we will do our best to place
you on a team where your talents can be complemented.
The event is free! It is being generously sponsored by Yeshiva University and all our sponsors who
can be found here.
Absolutely! Unfortunately, YU has a no-guest COVID policy, so we won't be able to welcome you to campus,
but you can still hack with us virtually. To sign up, visit our sign-up page here.
Additionally, any ambitious high school students who are interested in participating may also sign up
by contacting us at hackyu2021@gmail.com.
We are taking extra care to make sure this event runs safely and smoothly amidst COVID. All
in-person students will be required to comply with the school’s COVID
protocol , including submitting a nasal PCR test before returning to campus and participating in
the university’s COVID testing program. Masks will be required at all times (except when eating in
designated areas) and capacity in each room will be limited. Social distancing will be mandatory.
Yes, participants will be able to hack from home! You can indicate that you would like to participate
virtually when signing up for the event.
We will be providing dinner, breakfast, lunch, and lots of caffeine.
There will be. We will be in touch when we have more details.
The beauty of a hackathon is the rush to complete an amazing project from nothing to something over
the course of a day. It’s not nearly as fun to have already started the project so we strongly
discourage this to keep the spirit of the hackathon alive.
Absolutely! Intro teaches you plenty of fundamentals to actually build something cool and useful. A
hackathon is also a great way to get introduced to a lot of aspects of software engineering that you
might not encounter otherwise.
Thanks to our generous sponsors there will be some awesome prizes for the winners as well as great
swag for all those that participate.
Email all questions to hackyu2021@gmail.com
and we would love to help wherever we can.
